“School-Industry Cooperation İstanbul Model” project developed by Vocational Education Department affiliated to the Provincial National Education Directorate of Istanbul has been inaugurated by Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı, Minister of Labor and Social Security Ahmet Erdem and Chairman of İstanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) Erdal Bahçıvan

Ceremony held on the occasion of signing of the School-Industry Cooperation Istanbul Model protocol

Speaking at the protocol signing ceremony at ISO, Minister Avcı said he hoped that the project will be a blessing for the county as well as paving the way for similar projects as an example model.

Noting the importance of vocational education, Minister Avcı stated that contribution of especially industrial institutions to vocational education has a significant importance in the eye of the Ministry of National Education.

“We believe that the merger of in-depth knowledge and experience of industrial organizations and experience of Ministry of National Education in vocational education with the force of human resources shall result in a very important outcome. We no longer prefer to use the term “intermediate staff” which was used to define people who received vocational education. We believe that the graduates of vocational training schools shall pay a key role in the development and industrialization of the country not as an intermediate staff but as key staff. We set our goals according to this objective,” Minister Avcı said.

Minister Avıc gave information about selected schools and students within the framework of the project and went on to say that:

“Funds from the unemployment insurance fund will be transferred to selected schools for the purchase of machinery, equipment and software suitable to the latest technology. Students of selected schools will receive job search skills, interview and meeting techniques as well as guidance and counseling services. Those who graduate from these schools will be prior to benefit from on-the-job training programs. Our ministry will compensate students’ contribution fee, general health insurance, occupational accidents and occupational disease insurance premiums throughout the on-the-job training program. The Ministry will give insurance premium support to the employer when these students are hired. In line with the demands of students receiving education from selected schools, we will pay trainer fee during the vocational training, allowance to the students, general health insurance and occupational health and disease insurance premiums. This cooperation will result in merger of the production force of industrial organizations and education experience of our schools in a brand new mutual education type. Our friends decided the name it as the “İstanbul Model”. If Allah permits, this model will be very successful.”

Following the speeches, “School-Industry Cooperation İstanbul Model” project developed by Vocational Education Department affiliated to the Provincial National Education Directorate of Istanbul was işnaugurated by Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı, Minister of Labor and Social Security Ahmet Erdem and Chairman of İstanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) Erdal Bahçıvan.

The protocol aims at overcoming demand and supply inconsistency by maintaining cooperation between the vocational training institutions and the industrial organizations as well as forming a brand new vocational and technical training model.

This protocol will allow the initiation of “School-Industry Cooperation İstanbul Model” especially in Istanbul and contribute to the objective of productive fulfillment of qualified work force to sectors and human resources in the whole of the country.
