MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION BREAKS 6,869 DESIGN REGISTRATION RECORD IN 2.5 MONTHS

The Ministry of National Education continues to focus on patent, useful model, design and branding activities as a part of intellectual and industrial property rights projects carried out in all secondary education institutions especially in Arts and Science Centers (BİLSEMs), advanced technical schools for girls and vocational high schools.

The Ministry of National Education broke its own record in 2021 when it registered 1,441 patents, useful models, designs and brands. The goal for 2022 was set as the registration of 7,500 products.
 
In the first two and a half months of 2022, schools affiliated to the Ministry have applied for the registration of a total of 8,277 products, 127 of them being patents, 356 useful models, 7,702 designs and 46 brands and 6,869 products have been registered till now.
 
92 percent of annual target achieved within first 2.5 months
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated: "We have achieved important progress regarding intellectual property rights in vocational education, BİLSEMs, advanced technical schools for girls and other high schools in 2021. As a part of our cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Brand Institution, we have organized intellectual property rights training programs for teachers and school administrators in all 81 cities of the country. Moreover, we have established an intellectual property rights office with the purpose of maintaining coordination of activities carried out in 81 cities and giving required support. As a result of our efforts, we have registered 1,441 patents, useful models, designs and brands. Our goal for 2022 was to register 7,500 products. We have achieved 92 percent of our target within the first 2.5 months of this year."
