VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS ARE PREPARING FOR FACE OF FACE EDUCATION

"Vocational schools are working in an effort to meet the disinfectant and hygiene product demands of educational institutions while preparation for face to face education. Vocational schools that have been giving support to the national and international fight against Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic assumed an important role in the preparation of face to face education set for September 21."

Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk had a meeting with volunteer teachers and students of the İstanbul Sultanahmet Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School which was born from its own ashes at its historical school building. Minister Selçuk wore a work apron, gloves and a mask during his visit to the mask production workshop at the school and examined all details of the production process varying from mask sawing stage to packing.
 
The multipurpose hall of the historical high school building was like a trade fair. Ventilators, disinfectant robots, medical support, medical and hygiene products developed by vocational high schools in İstanbul were put on display. Minister Selçuk visited every stand, examined every single product and received information from teachers and students who worked in the R&D and production process of these products.
 
50 million masks, 6 million liters of surface disinfectant
Following his chat with vocational high school teachers, Minister Selçuk said, "Today, I am happy to learn more about production and participate in the production process. I wore gloves, an apron and I tried to contribute to the mask production process."
 
Stressing that the production infrastructure of vocational high schools are strong enough to respond to demands for masks, disinfectants and daily cleaning products, Minister Selçuk stated, "You know that since the beginning of the pandemic, vocational  high schools, science and arts centers and public training centers have been producing quality of the most needed masks, disinfectants and other products. Especially, protective mask production continues in 139 vocational high schools in 48 cities of the country upon demand. Till now, these schools and mentioned centers have produced 50 million masks, 1 million face shields, 1 million disposable aprons, 6 million liters of hand disinfectants and 25 liters of cologne."
 
Minister Selçuk said that his ministry has written a success story in vocational and technical training in the last two years adding that, "I am proud to see that vocational high schools have the capacity to produce protective hygiene products and disinfectants needed at schools during this time when we are preparing to open face to face education."
 
"I would like to thank every single teacher and administrator who worked as a part of this process because we have supported our community during these difficult times. Due to this reason, I am so happy to be here and witness this success. We have reached a point where we can double our production capacity in case it is needed."
